The perimeter trail is an approximately 3.7 mile trail that serves as the primary functioning artery of the trail network. This trail is currently in existence, having been built by volunteers in the past 3-4 years.
This trail has been designed to accommodate all user groups, from mountain bikers, to trail runners, to novice hikers. This trail will be .6 miles, and will create a secondary loop that extends off of the northeast corner of the trail network. This trail provides an alternative for hikers and trail runners to add distance off of the main artery trail, and also offers an immediate trail loop for users coming from Salisbury Road.
This trail will be multi-use to accommodate both hikers and mountain bikers, so the trail tread should remain smooth, wide, and minimize steep grades.
This trail, at approximately .8 miles, will serve as an alternative bi-directional mountain bike trail. It will run parallel to the Normanskill creek, but will utilize the existing side slope of the ridge that the trail will exist on. It will maintain average gradient <8% to accommodate climbing, as well as provide a long, sustained descent.
The trail will incorporate taller berms on the switchbacks, and have rolling grade reversals every 80-100’ to allow for adequate drainage off of the ridge which it ascends.
This trail, at approximately .6 miles, will be an intermediate designated mountain bike trail that takes advantage of the moderate slope that descends an esker and extends down to the creek.
This trail will incorporate both a mixture of machine build elements, as well as more natural, hand-built singletrack.
This trail, at approximately .35 miles, will be a technical, one-way mountain biking trail.
This trail, at approximately .15 miles, will serve as an alternative bi-directional mountain bike trail. It will provide a mountain bike optimized option along the top of an esker, and bring trail users through the birch meadow that exists in this location.
This trail at approximately .20 miles, will be an alternative, one-way mountain bike trail that will exist between the Artery Trail (Trail 1) and the existing “Connector” trail. This trail will be mountain bike specific, and contain numerous switch-backs, turns, dips, rolling grade reversals. The primary purpose of this trail is to provide a fun, “sessionable” descent.
This trail at approximately .15 miles, will be an MTB skills loop contained within Hiking Trail 2. This trail will be mountain bike specific, and contain numerous switch-backs, turns, dips, rolling grade reversals, and optional lines.
The primary purpose of this trail is to provide a fun, “sessionable” skill building loop, that contains a high-density of mountain bike features.
This trail, at approximately .3 miles, will serve an alternative access point for emergency vehicles entering from Salisbury Lane.
Due to the wet, marshy character of this area, it will require extensive bridging and boardwalks.
