The perimeter trail is an approximately 3.7 mile trail that serves as the primary functioning artery of the trail network. This trail is currently in existence, having been built by volunteers in the past 3-4 years.
The entrance to this trail is directly in front of the parking lot. It drops in fast, climbs back up, then drops sharply back and forth to the broken bridge and back up to the Ridgeline. From there it drops to and follows the Kill before climbing back up to the Ridgeline.
This trail will be .6 miles, and will create a secondary loop that extends off of the northeast corner of the full loop. This trail provides an alternative for hikers and trail runners to add distance off of the full loop trail, and also offers an immediate trail loop for users coming from Salisbury Road.
This is a fun, twisty, rooty loop with at least one major obstacle. A large ramp over a downed tree just below the Ridgeline.
A proposed new trail. This would run somewhat parallel to the full loop, between mile points 1.25 and the top of the ridge, above mile point 2. This trail, at approximately .8 miles, will serve as an alternative bi-directional mountain bike trail. It will utilize the existing side slope of the ridge that the trail will exist on. It will maintain average gradient <8% to accommodate climbing, as well as provide a long, sustained descent.
The trail will incorporate taller berms on the switchbacks, and have rolling grade reversals every 80-100’ to allow for adequate drainage off of the ridge which it ascends.
This trail, at approximately .6 miles, will be an intermediate designated mountain bike trail that takes advantage of the moderate slope that descends an esker and extends down to the creek. It will begin about halfway between mileposts .5 and .75, and end on yellow trail, just above the long bridge (aka white bridge).
This trail will incorporate both a mixture of machine build elements, as well as more natural, hand-built singletrack. Currently some of this trail exists as double track and some as single track.
This trail, at approximately .35 miles, is a flowy, technical, one-way mountain biking trail.
This trail, at approximately .15 miles, will serve as an alternative bi-directional mountain bike trail. It will provide a mountain bike optimized option along the top of an esker, and bring trail users through the birch meadow that exists in this location.
This trail at approximately .20 miles, will delete a hill from the full loop. It is currently in existence, it begins when you take a right just after the tree on the south side of the long bridge (white bridge). And it ends about halfway between mileposts 2.5 and 2.75. Essentially removing one climb from the route. But in bypassing that hill, you will also miss a rooty section with a long challenging skinny, and you'll also miss your choice of a step downhill or a fun twisty downhill called snakes and barrels.
This trail at approximately .20 miles, will be an alternative, one-way mountain bike trail that will exist between the Full Loop and the existing “Connector” trail. This trail will be mountain bike specific, and contain numerous switch-backs, turns, dips, rolling grade reversals. The primary purpose of this trail is to provide a fun, “sessionable” descent.
This trail at approximately .15 miles, will be an MTB skills loop contained within Hiking Trail 2. This trail will be mountain bike specific, and contain numerous switch-backs, turns, dips, rolling grade reversals, and optional lines.
The primary purpose of this trail is to provide a fun, “sessionable” skill building loop, that contains a high-density of mountain bike features.
This trail, at approximately .3 miles, will serve an alternative access point for emergency vehicles entering from Salisbury Lane. It will connect to the far end of the Add On Loop.
Due to the wet, marshy character of this area, it will require extensive bridging and boardwalks.
