Our Impact

What we do

Trail Building

We develop sustainable trails throughout the Capital Region, creating new opportunities for mountain biking, hiking, and outdoor recreation.

Trail Maintenance

Through volunteer efforts and community partnerships, we maintain and improve existing trails to keep them safe, accessible, and enjoyable.

Trail Advocacy

We work with local communities, organizations, and landowners to expand trail access, promote responsible recreation, and support the future of local trails.

The Woods

What began as a family backyard in 1960 has grown into a place for the entire community to explore and enjoy.

More than 60 years ago, Gene V. Primomo began building trails and bridges throughout his family's property, creating access to the ravines, forests, and streams that make up what is now known as "The Woods."

Today, the Primomo family continues to welcome visitors to experience the beauty of the land, while Capital Trail Alliance helps build, maintain, and preserve its trails for future generations.

A newly installed sign celebrates Gene's contributions and the history behind this special place.

Trail Projects

Another step toward better trails! CTA volunteers recently constructed a new wooden bridge to improve the trail experience and help riders and hikers navigate this section of the trail.

Projects like this are made possible through the dedication of our volunteers and the continued support of our community.
